Welcome to the first edition of our thematic coffee series, where we pay homage to the birthplace of coffee – Africa. Many of us know that coffee fuels our days, but few know its story began thousands of miles away in Ethiopia, where legend has it a goat herder named Kaldi noticed his goats dancing energetically after nibbling on coffee cherries. This discovery marked the start of coffee’s journey across continents and cultures.
Connecting with Farmers: The Heart of Our Process
Each coffee journey begins with people. At Suzuki Coffee, we prioritize working with dedicated partners who share our respect for the farmers behind every bean. In conversations with our traders, one expressed, “Can you imagine how the farmer would feel knowing their beans are enjoyed in such an exquisite café?” This thought drives our mission to honour the hard work and passion poured into each harvest.
Handpicked for Quality and Story
After tasting over 20 samples from across Africa, we selected three exceptional beans that embody Africa’s legacy and diversity. Our team of roasters, baristas, and staff collaborated to choose beans that balance flavour with a story of resilience and pride: Rwanda’s Horizon Lot 1, Tanzania’s Mbeya Kubwa Tano, and Uganda’s Bukyabo Miwu.
