In recent years, however, more women are being empowered to step into leadership roles within coffee production. Women Power Zongolica (WPZ) is a celebration of this progress: a coffee born from the dedication of a 20-women collective, deeply rooted in the cultural and agricultural heritage of the Nahua Indigenous people in Zongolica, Mexico.
These women-led farms operate as agroecosystems, drawing on generations of Indigenous wisdom to preserve biodiversity through intercropping and forest conservation. Their sustainable methods not only protect the land but also enhance the resilience of their coffee crops, making them more resistant to disease and climate challenges.
